VOLUNTEERS

Our Dedicated Volunteers From All Over The World

So far there have been over 40 expatriate and Khmer volunteers including monks joining to provide help at the BFT centre. They have kindly supported BFT projects in English language learning and cooking. They have also helped to introduce tourist visitors to the projects, discussing and advising on how to further cooperated by helping orphans and community members to have a better life in a more peaceful world.

In return, all of those volunteers have also learnt much from the projects and this has made their lives happier and more meaningful. “Every life is  invaluable and meaningful”: thus if you save the life of one child it means that you will have a wonderful life too through your kindness and compassion, and we hope your children one day will also be loved and cared for by other people. This is indicated in our Buddha’s expression that: ”Naturally, You Will Have That Fruit Whatever Crops You Have Grown”.

Cooking Demonstration and Food Provision

Mr. Vuthy, a tour guide and a group of tourists from Germany and Spain came and conducted a cooking demonstration class and also provided food to orphans at BFT. He was spending days with the orphans at the centre. There was an enjoyable and delicious meal and we all appreciated of their visit. Our orphans really appreciated such gestures and are thankful for doing them. It was a great opportunity for our visitors to teach, learn and make friends with Cambodians especially the orphans at BFT. We are sure they will share this wonderful experience with the friends in Germany and Australia.

Mr. Yohsuke James Kawakawa from New York City with his students at BFT

A message from Mr. Yohsuke Kawakawa

BFT is a remarkable organization that not only receives help from volunteers but also incorporates the community to provide a better future for the children. My time at BFT was a great experiment and I will cherish the memories I have of being with the children. The energy of the students to study English shows their willingness to learn and with sufficient support they can achieve anything. I believe that BFT is a crucial part of Cambodian children’s successful future.

Miss.  Virginia Costa from Australia with her students at BFT

Virginia has kindly worked very hard to teach the BFT staff and teachers English language. Everyone was proud and happy to be learning with her. The period of six months teaching the staff has built up many English skills and they also learned a lot about cultural issues. Many thanks from everyone at the BFT centre. We wish her all the best and good luck. We look forward to having her visit again in the future.

Mrs. Sinath, Art Trainer from Siem Reap with her students

Mrs. Sinath has been voluntarily teaching the children at the BFT centre how to draw and other art skills. She kindly shares her knowledge every Sunday. Her students very much enjoy learning with her. They would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for her contribution.

Mrs. Maria Fe B. Dequito, Phillipines with her trainees at BFT

There was a two-week training course provided by a Filipino Teacher/trainer, Mrs. Maria Fe B Dequito, who taught using different methodologies and strategies how to teach students effectively, energize them, group discussions etc. There were 19 students participating from NGOs, hotels, teachers and individuals. The training was helpful for teachers to continue to do echo training with other teachers in public schools or universities. Everybody was very grateful for the course and hopes to have more of this kind of training. On behalf of the BFT Centre, we would like to express sincere thanks for your kindness in sharing your skills and experiences, Mrs. Dequito.

Ms. Anne Horner from Australia with her students at the BFT centre

Anne is a qualified photographer who has worked with children in Perth, Western Australia for seven years. She finds working with children in Australia very different to working with students in Cambodia. Annie has travelled to Cambodia twice now and says it has been an honor to have had the opportunity to meet and become friends with Vudthy. He proudly introduced Annie to BFT and it was her pleasure to visit the centre to talk to and teach the students. Annie says, “Each time I have travelled to Cambodia it has taught me so much. Not only about who I am, but I have also learnt so much about the Khmer people and how wonderful they all are.” Annie feels that all the students at BFT really enjoy learning to speak English and it was  inspiring for her to share this joy.

Mr. Andy Clode and Mrs. Stina Seger from New Zealand with Ven. Houn Vudthy

Both Stina Seger and Andy Clode, from New Zealand taught English for six months as volunteers for BFT. There were 16 students who attended their course which was excellent. Students and teacher were happy and enjoyed their time together. Students have improved their English in both speaking and writing skills as well as how to listen attentively. As a result, some of them have been employed and are also returning for other courses in Leadership skill and Teaching skills.  All the students are missing both of them very much and wish to see them again in the future.

Mr. Isaiah Chase from Japan with his Japanese students at the BFT centre

Mr. Isaiah Chase from Japan taught Japanese language at the BFT Centre for 3 months. There were 11 students who attended. He is another of the volunteers who have kindly committed their valuable time for Cambodian students. He enjoyed working with the students and hopes that he will have a chance to visit them again in Cambodia. He wishes all the students a good future. He has travelled to Cambodia and was very taken with the Angkor Khmer Culture. He has made lots of friends in Cambodia.

Mr. Tazang and Mr. Mok, Football Coaches

Entertainment groups such as a football team have been formed. These groups were formed with the students and the orphans at BFT. The football teams were trained and also played many times. Each team has its own capacity to perform based on the mentors/ trainers. Deep thanks for Mr. Mok, Yothin and Mr. Tazang who have been voluntarily providing  football training to all BFT teams. All members have developed their skills to a high level to perform in matches.  The result from the Siem Reap primary school cup in the soccer match in 2010 was that Kravan team which combined with BFT members came second out of 40 teams from all over the Siem Reap. All the children at KV school are very proud and happy and hope that they come first in next year’s tournament.
